Improving reliability on Bainbridge Island with tree wire
One of the common tools PSE uses to improve electric service reliability for our customers is tree wire. Tree wire is a type of specially-coated power line that’s designed to prevent electric faults from fallen tree limbs. This added protection reduces power outages from tree branches by more than 95%.
On Bainbridge Island, PSE has installed 24 miles of tree wire, and we’re currently working on eight different projects around the island that will replace bare distribution line wire with the tough, thick-coated tree wire.
