Project overview
As part of an ongoing effort to improve electric safety and reliability on Bainbridge Island, we are upgrading the electric system along Old Mill Road NE (see project map on this page).
These improvements will include relocating portions of the existing overhead electric wire underground and upgrading related electric equipment in the project area. While many of the utility poles will be removed and lines moved underground, some poles and overhead utilities will remain, as well as service lines to feed existing customers.
These upgrades will improve the electric system’s safety and reliability and reduce risk of power outages.
We began preliminary work on this project in 2023. Currently, the project is in the design phase with construction expected to begin in late 2027 or in 2028. We will keep the community informed as the project progresses.
