Flex Smart+

Flex Smart+ is a voluntary energy efficiency pilot program launched in late 2022 for Bainbridge Island residents who heat and/or cool their homes with electricity. The program works to meet the island’s growing demand for energy by offering residents increased incentives for participating in PSE Flex demand response programs.

How it Works

Sign up for one of the PSE Flex programs and receive increased incentives:

• Flex Smart - Own a wi-fi enabled smart thermostat? During Flex events, PSE will automatically adjust its temperature set point by a few degrees with no action needed on your part. Earn up to $50 per device enrolled, plus an additional $75 enrollment reward as a Bainbridge Island resident.
• Flex Water Heaters - During Flex events, PSE will automatically pause water heating. Earn $20 for enrolling, $20 per year, plus an additional $75 enrollment reward as a Bainbridge Island resident.
• Flex EV - PSE will remotely signal your home EV charging to happen outside the hours of Flex Events. Earn $50 for enrolling, plus a $75 enrollment reward as a Bainbridge Island resident.
• Flex Batteries - Own a battery storage system? Earn money by partnering with PSE and allowing your battery to be called upon during Flex events, with no action or behavior change. Enroll and earn $75 per kWh of battery storage (up to $1,000 total) on enrollment, earn $.50 per kWh for your participation during Flex events, plus a $75 enrollment reward as a Bainbridge Island resident.
