Double poles removed on Bainbridge Island

In our February newsletter we told you about our program designed to speed up the removal of “double poles” across our service area, and we’re excited to share that Bainbridge Island is now benefiting from this effort!

On September 30th, we removed eight double poles from the island, continuing our commitment to reducing visual impact and improving aesthetics in the community.

As a reminder, double poles happen when we replace an old utility pole with a new one, but the old pole remains temporarily while we coordinate with communication carriers to safely transfer their equipment. While this process is a normal part of pole replacement work, these double poles sometimes remain for many years, and we've been working hard to speed that process up.

Thanks to our Pole Services program, new projects now see wire transfers completed within 45 days, dramatically cutting down the time double poles remain. We first rolled out this program in Bellevue, Puyallup, Renton, and Vashon Island, and we're thrilled to now bring these improvements to Bainbridge Island.
