Volunteer with Island Volunteer Caregivers
Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is a volunteer-powered nonprofit serving the Bainbridge Island community since 1996. Founded on a simple yet powerful idea of neighbors helping neighbors, IVC connects volunteers with aging adults, adults with disabilities related to aging, and those facing life challenges. Through services such as transportation, companionship, grief support, respite care, caregiver support groups, meal programs, and life-enrichment activities, IVC helps people remain connected, supported, and independent.
In 2025 alone, IVC volunteers drove more than 55,000 miles providing transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, and essential services which equated nearly two trips around the earth. Volunteers also contributed more than 15,000 hours of service supporting over 400 care receivers in our community. With nearly 27% of Bainbridge Island residents being 65 or older, the need for compassionate volunteers continues to grow and new volunteers are always welcome.
Volunteering with IVC is flexible and meaningful. There are no set schedules, and you choose when and how you want to help. Whether driving a neighbor to an appointment, sharing a friendly visit, or supporting a caregiver, even a small amount of time can make a big difference. PSE is proud to support the important work of IVC.
