PSE's customer connected solar soars on Bainbridge Island

Solar is one of the most common ways that PSE customers choose to generate their own energy. Installing rooftop solar panels allows you to generate renewable energy that can be used to power your home and reduce your ongoing electricity bills. By interconnecting your home’s solar system to the grid, you can use solar power when the sun is shining, while still relying on the PSE grid for consistent energy. Net metering enables you to offset your electricity consumption with the solar energy you generate, ensuring you only pay PSE for the net energy used, plus the basic service charge.

Batteries are not required to make solar with net metering work but can be added to provide backup power during a grid outage as well as opportunity to participate in PSE’s exciting new Flex incentive programs.

In 2024, Bainbridge Island PSE customers installed 51 new net metered systems, with a combined generating capacity of 569 kilowatt (kW) AC. This brings the island’s total to 502 systems installed, with a collective generating capacity of 4,507 kW AC. As a result, we now anticipate annual generation of nearly 5,000,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) on the Island!

Our Customer Connected Solar program is your key resource to learn more about installing solar at your home and how to apply for interconnection and net metering with PSE.
