New exhibits at the Bainbridge History Museum

This season, the Bainbridge History Museum invites the community to explore the stories that shape the island through a vibrant lineup of events and programs. Now open daily from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with always-free admission (donations appreciated), the museum continues its mission to preserve and share the stories of Bainbridge Island to promote a deeper understanding of the community and the world. Whether you're a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, there’s never been a better time to connect with local history.

Kicking off the summer, the museum presents the Dearly Departed exhibit opening on May 14, a free evening event that delves into the island’s fascinating medical history. Visitors will uncover unexpected causes of death, hazardous working environments, and stories from Bainbridge Island’s historic cemeteries. The exhibit will remain on display through December 2026. The popular History Huddle series continues, offering engaging monthly discussions: May 21 explores Crystal Springs memories, June 18 covers Port Madison after the mill, July 16 highlights environmentalism on Bainbridge Island, and August 27 reflects on Rolling Bay memories.

Summer continues with two signature events you won’t want to miss. On July 19, “Set Sail into History” offers a unique cruise around Bainbridge Island, where history comes alive through stories of early settlers, Indigenous heritage, and the events that shaped the island’s identity. Then, wrap up the season at the 7th Annual Founders Tournament, a five-day pickleball event at Founders Court in Battle Point Park — celebrating “61 Years Later. Still Serving History.”
