Happy New Year from Puget Sound Energy!

As we ring in the New Year, we’d like to highlight some of the work we completed in 2025 to collaborate with the Bainbridge Island community and improve your electric reliability. We’re very grateful to you – our customers – and are proud to serve in your community! Here’s a look at the work we accomplished on Bainbridge Island last year:

  • Replaced aging equipment at the Murden Cove Substation. We installed a new control house and other equipment, including a second transformer, to provide electric capacity to meet our customers’ current and future energy needs. We plan to complete upgrades to the substation this spring.
  • Began the real estate process to acquire rights for the Winslow Tap 115 kV transmission line rebuild, and continued project design and permitting activities.
  • Continued fieldwork, design, and permitting activities for the Murden Cove - Winslow 115 kV “missing link” transmission line, Winslow Substation upgrades, and current/upcoming distribution system projects on the Island.
  • Surveyed shoreline and critical areas for the Pleasant Beach Drive NE/ Bluff Lane NE electric system reliability project.
  • Trimmed trees along existing power lines to maintain safe and reliable power.
  • Replaced several aging underground electric cables across the Island as part of our Cable Remediation Program to maintain reliability for cables nearing the end of their useful life.
  • Encouraged customers on Bainbridge Island to sign up for the Flex Smart+ program to shift their energy use and save money. Read in our article below about Flex Smart+’s achievements to-date and changes to energy efficiency rebates offered through the program.
  • Launched a revamped PSE Bainbridge Island website, featuring an updated design and improved user experience. This website is your best resource to learn more about our work on Bainbridge Island and stay updated on our progress. Go check it out!
  • Updated the community on the status of these projects, including giving presentations at City and community organization meetings; mailing project letters; and providing regular updates through this e-newsletter, one-on-one conversations, the website, social media, and more.

Keep an eye out for more information about the work planned for 2026 in upcoming newsletters. Happy New Year!
