Happy New Year from Puget Sound Energy!

As we ring in the New Year, we’d like to highlight some of our work in 2024 to collaborate with you and improve your electric reliability. We’re very grateful for your support and proud to serve in your community!

Here’s a look at our work last year:

  • Completed the NE Hidden Cove Road electric reliability improvement project, which included replacing existing wire with tree wire and installing a new section of underground cable. Improvements like these help reduce the likelihood of outages caused by trees or limbs falling into power lines.
  • Launched an online open house to update the Bainbridge community on our hybrid solution projects and next steps.
  • Finished replacing aging equipment at Port Madison Substation. These upgrades improve reliability, better protect equipment and allow for remote control of the distribution system.
  • Continued project design, fieldwork and permitting activities for the Winslow Tap transmission line rebuild. We will begin the real estate acquisition process in the next couple of months.
  • Continued project design and fieldwork activities, including tree and right of way surveying, along the new Murden Cove – Winslow 115 kV transmission line route and at the Murden Cove and Winslow substations.
  • Began preliminary work, including vegetation assessments and right of way surveying, for the Fletcher Bay Road and the Pleasant Beach Drive NE/ Bluff Lane NE electric reliability improvement projects.
  • Trimmed trees along existing power lines to maintain safe and reliable power.
  • Encouraged customers on Bainbridge Island to sign up for the Flex Smart+ program to shift their energy use and save money.
  • Hosted community workshops about our new Bill Discount Rate Program and other bill assistance programs to help qualifying Bainbridge customers reduce their energy bills.
  • Updated the community on the status of our projects, including giving presentations at City and community organization meetings; mailing project letters and providing regular updates through this e-newsletter, one-on-one conversations, the website, social media and more.

Stay tuned for more information about the work planned for 2025. Happy New Year!
