Construction at Murden Cove Substation begins in June

PSE is making upgrades at Murden Cove Substation starting in early June and continuing through fall 2025. We'll replace aging equipment to improve electric reliability and install a new control house and other equipment, including a second transformer, to provide electric capacity to meet our customers current and future energy needs. These upgrades will also support the new Murden Cove - Winslow 115 kV "missing link" transmission line.

To prepare for this work, we will trim and remove some trees around the perimeter of the substation. You can expect occasional traffic delays as we bring in and remove equipment at the substation. You can also expect some noise from trucks and heavy machinery during work hours, which are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. During this work, we will continue to provide safe, reliable power and minimize community impacts as much as possible.

PSE plans to complete a portion of the upgrades at Murden Cove Substation this year and will return in spring 2026 to finish them. Thank you for your patience while we make these upgrades!
