Tree inventory fieldwork

Recently, you may have seen metal tags on trees along the alignment of Puget Sound Energy’s Murden Cove – Winslow 115 kV transmission line project to improve electric reliability on Bainbridge Island. In September, PSE consultants inventoried existing conditions along the transmission line corridor, including inventorying trees, wetlands, and streams. Trees are tagged with an identification number so we can document the size and species. At this time, we are creating an inventory of the trees, and the tagging does not indicate which trees will be trimmed or removed. The goal of this effort, in significant part, is to minimize impacts to trees, critical areas, and waters as we design the new transmission line. You can learn more about this fieldwork here.
