Thanks to the community’s commitment to public education, Bainbridge Schools Foundation (BSF) awarded $600,000 to the Bainbridge Island School District (BISD) this year, funding academic support materials, educator professional development, and certificated staffing districtwide. Tax dollars and state funding are insufficient in covering the expenses of the most basic levels of education. BSF’s mission to bridge the gap is imperative to the success of Bainbridge Island public schools.
BSF propels innovation, equity, and support for over 3,000 public school students and 350 educators on Bainbridge Island. Since 2020, kids have been struggling with learning loss, pandemic stress, and many forms of readjustment academically, socially, and emotionally. In BSF’s direct and collaborative work with BISD and in listening to the concerns within the donor community, BSF heard a need to prioritize the social-emotional learning and health of the entire public school community. Thanks to continued donor support, BSF is excited to announce that it has pledged nearly $200,000 for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year to support the acquisition and adoption of BISD’s new social-emotional learning curriculum, Character Strong.
