A playground with a giant ferry boat play structure is truly one of a kind, and Puget Sound Energy helped make it happen on Bainbridge Island. KidsUp! The Next Generation of Play opened Labor Day weekend at the island’s Battle Point Park, to rave reviews from kids and parents alike.
Designed for kids of all abilities and ages – even the merry go round is wheelchair friendly – the playground is a model for inclusion and shared play experiences. Centerpiece is the M/V KidsUp! a two-level play feature modeled after the Puget Sound ferry fleet. Northwest maritime-themed elements like climbable Orca whales and a delightful, secret octopus sculpture abound.
KidsUp! The Next Generation of Play is already a regional destination playground, getting rave reviews around the Seattle area. PSE is proud to sponsor a colorful new swing set, a perennial playground favorite.
Swings are a beloved classic component of every playground and such a stimulating way to experience movement, says Mary Meier, Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation Executive Director .“We’re grateful to Puget Sound Energy for bringing joy to our kids and families with their generous sponsorship of KidsUp! The Next Generation of Play.” Learn more about the KidsUp! The Next Generation of Play by visiting www.biparksfoundation.org/project-highlights/kidsup.
