Storm season preparation

PSE crews use a bucket truck to lift response workers up to a repair a power line during a snowstorm.

Living in Western Washington, we understand that unpredictable and powerful storms are a part of life. That’s why we’d like to share some tips to help you and your family be prepared in the event of another challenging season.

  • Have emergency supplies at home and in your vehicle. Extra food, blankets, flashlights and batteries area good start.
  • Do you have an alternative heat source? Think about your options and be prepared for power outages.
  • Download the PSE mobile app to stay connected during a storm. If your power goes out, just tap to report it.

We've been working throughout the year on projects that strengthen our electric system against storm-related outages. Our annual tree trimming program on Bainbridge Island started in September, and is focused on removing some of the trees that could potentially fall onto power lines, and we’ve completed installation of tree wire in other priority areas. It’s inevitable, however, that we will face storms that could cause power outages. In the event that happens, our crews will be ready to take action and restore power as quickly as possible.
