Puget Sound Energy announced a multiyear partnership with Climate Pledge Arena and the Seattle Kraken NHL hockey organization to promote energy efficiency and sustainability across the region. The one-of-a-kind collaboration features the Light the Lamp sponsorship program, supporting local organizations that engage with underserved youth in sports and other physical activities.

As part of the partnership, PSE and the Kraken are teaming up with local non-profits through the Light the Lamp program, which will provide funding to youth organizations to pay for scholarships, registration fees, uniforms, sports equipment and costs related to coaching and training.

On Bainbridge Island we are pleased to present $3000 to Bainbridge Community Foundation through the Seattle Kraken Light The Lamp sponsorship program. Bainbridge Community Foundation, in partnership with Bainbridge Schools Foundation, Bainbridge Youth Services, and Helpline House, created the Youth Experience Support Fund (YES Fund) to provide financial assistance to local youth in order to participate in sports or other in-school or extracurricular activities.

“When a young person is facing hardship and reaches out for help, saying “yes” not only meets their need, but it builds their future resiliency. We’re very grateful to PSE and the Seattle Kraken for helping us say “yes!” to more kids” shared Jim Hopper, Executive Director at Bainbridge Community Foundation.

The YES Fund makes financial assistance available to young people through a quick and confidential process, creating opportunities for students who may not otherwise have the resources to meet basic needs, to achieve academic success, or to pursue extracurricular activities. YES Funds support a wide range of these needs, such as covering the cost of registration fees and equipment for youth sports activities, music lessons, dance lessons, skiing, swimming, etc. Financial assistance was also used for basic needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, and provided electric blankets for kids, technology and workspace improvements to help students participate in online school, and sleeping bags for those who needed them.
