New renewable energy option for commercial and municipal customers

PSE recently launched Green Direct, a new program for commercial and municipal customers to purchase renewable energy. Green Direct will make a difference by constructing a new renewable generating facility while our partners benefit from cost-competitive prices and continued access to energy efficiency programs. Once complete, the project will produce enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of nearly 30,000 Washington homes.

Our current Green Direct public partners include King County, Western Washington University, Sound Transit and the cities of Anacortes, Bellevue, Olympia, Snoqualmie and Mercer Island; our current commercial partners include Target, Starbucks and REI. Participating customers sign long-term PSE service agreements, which will support the construction of the new generating facility in 2018.

“Green Direct exemplifies the power of partnership,” said Kimberly Harris, president & CEO of Puget Sound Energy. “Working with the UTC and with customers like King County and REI, we’ve been able to structure an industry-leading renewable energy program for our largest electric customers. We’re so excited to see this come together and for what it means to our customers and the region.”

Our Bainbridge Island customers are enthusiastic supporters of renewable energy. PSE is proud to offer Green Direct as a new option, in addition to our Solar Choice and Green Power programs.
