Council discontinues consideration of creating a City-run utility

Spring flowers on Bainbridge Island

Last night, the Bainbridge Island City Council voted unanimously (6-0 with one member absent) to discontinue consideration of creating a City-run electric utility. We appreciate the many residents who have become engaged in this discussion regarding the Island's energy future.

There are many challenging issues facing our communities - reducing the carbon footprint, increasing energy efficiency, improving electric reliability and keeping rates affordable, to name a few. We look forward to working with the community and the City to find workable solutions to these issues. It is a privilege serving our customers on Bainbridge Island, and we look forward to continuing our service.
