Bainbridge Island Historical Museum unveils new exhibit

4/29/2022

PSE is proud to sponsor the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum and their work to preserve and share the stories of Bainbridge Island and to promote a greater understanding of the community and the world in which we live. Their team works to spark curiosity and inspire people to connect, explore different perspectives, reflect, and celebrate the diverse stories of our community.

“I am incredibly proud of all the Museum has achieved thanks to the dedication of the Museum’s staff, board, volunteers, and donors who make it all possible. This new primary exhibit is a true celebration of our community and an important step our organization’s own history,” shared Brianna Kosowitz, Executive Director.

This year, the Museum’s primary gallery will be completely transformed into a lively, beautiful, and provocative new exhibit. Our Community: Past to Present (OCPP) will illuminate diverse, beloved, and previously untold stories about Bainbridge Island and the smaller communities of people who live, work, and play here. This is an ambitious project that will combine historical content and elegant design with sensory and hands-on learning activities for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

OCPP will be organized in distinct sections; each one showcasing a different Bainbridge Island community, or group of people linked by heritage, work, hobby, or other association. Each section will be filled with authentic cultural materials, photos, oral and video recordings, text, and unique hands-on activities.

Our Community: Past to Present opens to the public on Friday, May 6th. While the Schoolhouse building will be closed until then, the Museum will remain free and open to visitors Wednesday-Sunday 10am-4pm and you are invited to stop by!
