Join Island Volunteer Caregivers for their 2024 Gather and Give Gala on June 6

Bainbridge Island is a community brimming with neighbor-to-neighbor support. While some communities have volunteer nonprofits that focus solely on transportation, Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) goes beyond to provide companionship, life enrichment activities that help alleviate loneliness and isolation and grief support. In 2023, IVC’s 306 volunteers contributed over 11,300 hours, fulfilling 4,176 requests and traveling 39,807 miles.

“I’ve never had so much fun in my life as I did today with my IVC Volunteer! I have had nothing but problems with my health, my ailing husband, issues with our condo and my dog died. My IVC Volunteer was such a delight and so very funny. He just lifted me up!” – An IVC care recipient.

As the island’s senior population grows, so does the demand for IVC’s essential services, which assist those facing challenges related to aging, disabilities or adversity. Last year, IVC’s Community Resource Navigator conducted 90 new care receiver visits, and, by March of this year, they’ve already conducted 45 visits. While statistics highlight IVC’s impact, they fail to capture the daily heartfelt connections that happen between volunteers and those they assist.
If you’re passionate about enabling individuals to remain in their homes with the necessary support, IVC invites you to join them on June 6 from 5:30 – 9 p.m. at the Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo for their annual Gather and Give Gala.
